Describe your project or startup in a few words
ODMM helps underprivileged children excel by providing knowledge in ethics, social studies, languages, science, arts, and technology. We seek $216,667 for school construction, ensuring sustainability with minimal fees for middle-income families.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Education is a fundamental resource for individuals and societies, seen as both a right and duty. Over the past two centuries, global literacy and enrolment rates have increased significantly. However, some regions, like sub-Saharan Africa, still have literacy rates below 50% among youth. Public funding largely supports education, but higher spending alone doesn’t improve outcomes. Research shows primary education yields the highest returns in less developed countries. ODMM supports Kenya’s educational efforts by focusing on marginalized children in Kibera slums.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem we are addressing is the lack of access to quality education for underprivileged and marginalized children, particularly in regions like sub-Saharan Africa and slums such as Kibera in Kenya. Despite global improvements in education, significant disparities remain, with many children still not receiving the education they need to improve their individual prospects and contribute to societal development. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, quality education to these children to help bridge this gap and support broader economic and social growth.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
The Project will directly benefit many children from vulnerable families in the slums of Kibera and the entire Nairobi County It will benefit the school teachers and other workers to work efficiently and motivate them to work harder for greater achievements as instructed and guided by ODMM.The project will help curtail school drop-outs. The new school will also provide a better working environment for teachers and other workers who will be employed, making them more effective in educating their pupils.
