Cultural for diversity advocate for scalling up afforestation , reforestation and landscape restoration by promoting sustainable land - use practices, leveraging community traditional knowledge to securing ecosystem services for mitigating climate change.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Culture for Biodiversity engage endiginious community who live in around mau ecosystem to promote afforestation , reforestation and sustainable land- use practice , we aim to contribute to global effort of mitigation , climate change , conserving biodiversity and securing ecosystem service . The project through participatory approach leverage community traditional knowledge , experience gain living around mau forest and skills acquired through formal learning , we trained method that leads to sustainable forest management and improve their livelihoods . Through stakeholders engagement we facilitate tree planting , Natural regenerative , training and giving them beehives and methods that improve land- use management. Additionally ,we conduct community- base forest monitoring and restoration. The expected results include increase forest cover, enhance community livelihoods and more resilience landscape. By aligning with ReDD+ strategic options we intend to impact community well being.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The global challenge of climate change poses a significant threat to ecosystem, biodiversity , human being and wildlife . In Narok North sub county in Kenya , a critical component of the larger East Africa region lies Mau forest ecosystem which is the second largest forest in Africa and also the source of main rives including ewaso ngiro which is source of water to mara savannah grassland , additionally is source of flora and fauna . Faces degradation and loss of forest cover due to deforestation , unstable land use practices , and erratic weather pattern. This degradation not only contribute to carbon emissions , but also Jeopardizes the ecosystem biodiversity, water resources , extinct of rare spices like white rhino , and the livelihoods of the local communities . The project target a range of endiginous community which are not only custodian of the forest but also depend on it for their livelihood , cultural practices making their active involvement crucial project implementation.

Sustainable land- use practice help to reduce acidity of the soil , improve soil fertility , reduce uses of synthetic fertilizers which kill soils micro organisms on the soil , reduction on carbon emissions , reduction on invasive spices , community health improve due to reduction on expose to harmful substances . The community will reduce on the cost of production due to usage of locally available farmyard manure, Natural regerative occur hence spices increase , pollution both in land and soil reduce , flora and fauna flourish. Improve is farming output will lead to economic empowerment of the community .Biogas reduce deforestation hence forest cover increases.

Clean energy when the community uses biogas for cooking and lighting result to clean energy . Poverty reduction. Improve of soil fertility increase in farm production hence economic growth of the community Good health reduction of synthetics fertilizes reduces soil pollution and water pollution hence reduction of water and air communicable disease hence community will have good health. Clean water tress help to purify water we drink when increase in forest cove result to clean water.
