Vermi-Farm Initiative, addresses the dire issue of abject poverty stemming from inconsistent and low incomes, particularly among vulnerable rural communities. We provide comprehensive training on climate-resilient technologies and financial literacy, empowering farmers, especially women and young people. Our flagship solution, Vermi-Farm DigiShamba, grants them control over crop production by shielding crops from adverse weather conditions and pests. Additionally, our Vermi-Farm Adapt Finance Program ensures accessibility to the DigiShambas through a community-based banking system, offering fast and affordable financing options. This holistic approach aims to uplift these communities by providing them with the tools and resources necessary for sustainable livelihoods.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Growing up in Igoji, where 99% of homes depend on smallholder farmers earning less than $2 a day, with 7 out of 10 being illiterate youth and women sustaining their families, I've witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of poverty in my community. This story resonates with over 33 million smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The main problem we aim to solve is the cycle of poverty perpetuated by unreliable and irregular income among these farmers. Despite their hard work, they struggle to earn enough to sustain themselves and their families due to unpredictable weather patterns and lack of access to resources and financial services.

Our solution offers several significant benefits: 1. Stable Income: By empowering smallholder farmers with the Vermi-Farm DigiShamba, we provide them with control over their crop production, shielding them from unpredictable weather patterns. Financial Inclusion: Through our Vermi-Farm Adapt Finance Program, we make the technology accessible to vulnerable communities, especially women and youth, by offering fast and affordable financing. Christine's background includes a strong commitment to youth advocacy and mentorship, demonstrated through her volunteer work with organizations like Dream Rise Foundation and Organization of African Youth.
