Pwani Kitchens and Events is a company that provides services to cooperates and individual clients.We provide a wide range of service including Tents,chairs,Decor and catering services as per the customers needs.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

We the increasing middle income population the trend of events is shifting from the traditional system where one would use their relatives and friend to plan and organize for their event.There has been an increased demand in meeting incentives and conference especially within the cost region of Kenya.With this background Pwani Kitchens and Events has come up to fill this gap by providing quality professional catering and events services.This has been facilitated by my professional knowledge acquire while studying Bachelor of hotel and hospitality management and a deep industry experience.Since staring up the Business three years ago I have been able to gain more customer due to the quality services offered.The challenge has been the inability to increase our services or extend our services outside the region due to limited capital access.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Pwani Kitchens and Events provide professional catering service following strick hygiene guidelines which helps to prevent chance of food poisoning to clients.We are also solving the problem of increased demand of catering and events services.This form of business is also very labour intensive therefore we are solving the problem of unemployment which is very hight in this region by training youths and providing them with employment opportunities. Many youths are finding themselves idle due to limited job opportunities and therefore engaging themselves in criminal and other vices that are against the community expectations.This startup aims at creating joys of job opportunities and keeping many youths busy and therefore responsible in the society.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

1.Employment opportunity- the startup is very labour intensity therefore providing more opportunities to the youth. Expansion of the startup would ensure more opportunities for the many jobless youths and hence reduce cases of insecurity within the community. 2.Reduction of food related Diseases-Being a chef who is very passionate about hygiene I ensure the food served to the customers is very safe and clean.Therefore the startup would reduce chance of food poisoning as a result of serving unhygienic food to customers.Healty customers is a healthy community. 3.Improved economy- The startup being in the service industry provides a link between the Meeting incentives and conference and therefore act as a facilitative service enabling the MIC industry to thrive therefore boosting the economy of the community and the country at large. 4.The startup aims a bridging the gap between the demand and supply for the many middle income population that require professional events service provider.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

Our services targets a young man and woman planning their wedding and requires a planner plus other related services including the most important one which is provision of food to this guests. We provide services to families who have lost their beloved one and wish to provide a decent sent off. We provide services for corporate planning meetings,training,exhibition and other similar events. We provide services to education institutions organizing graduations,prize days,parents meeting and such events We provide services to churches planning church meeting,seminars and training We provide services to individuals planning family parties,get together,dowry payments and such events We provide services to government bodies,ministries and counties planning meeting,political meeting,state and county functions.

06.08 Justification for my startup

My startup being a service provision but the uniqueness comes in by the amount of professionalism brought in to the service provision.The growing middle class and their changing preference for professional event planning.The growing MICE sector and changing trends in event planning bring the uniqueness to the startup.

06.09 Competitive Analysis

My potential competitors are offering individual service while I am providing a one stop shop for all the events needs meaning we can give our customer a full package of their event needs from one place.Our location is also strategic and no competitor is within our location there we serve a wide are compared to other competitors who are mostly in the City.

11.05 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?

Yes I sublease my catering and events equipment to female entrepreneurs who don't have the equipment but have got some business eg subleasing plate,cooking pots,spoons ,tables etc to female entrepreneurs.
