An e-learning platform for the green energy industry: offering management and engineering courses to engineers and managers who want to work with companies pioneering the green energy transition.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

Green Learn is an e-learning platform, like Coursera and Edx, focused on renewable energy engineering and management courses that prepare existing engineers and managers for working in the green energy industry. The courses on Green Learn will be designed to help engineers and managers in the petroleum industry to position themselves for jobs in companies that are pioneering the green energy transition.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

We are democratizing access to quality engineering and management training for the renewable energy industry which is currently geographically concentrated in select European countries and China. Many capable engineers and managers do not live in cities where they can physically take courses to break into the renewable energy sector. Our e-learning platform will give anyone that is willing the chance to upskill or transition into the renewable energy sector as an engineer or manager by taking our courses, without any geographical limits.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

1. Our e-learning platform for the renewable energy sector will be free for students. 2. It will provide accredited engineering and management courses in renewable energies.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

We have two customers. 1. Existing engineers & managers; these are the people who will take courses on our e-learning platform with the hope of positioning themselves for a job in renewable energies. They will not pay for the courses. 2. Renewable energy companies: Companies that are building products or services in the renewable energy sector will have the opportunity to hire talent through our e-learning platform. They will pay to have that access - which is access to engineers and managers who have taken accredited courses on our renewable energies learning platform.

Talesindano Nangolo: She holds a BScHons in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from Stellenbosch University. She has two years of experience working in the food industry. Bryan Nakambonde: Holds a Social Entrepreneurship BSc degree from Lynn University (USA). He has been an entrepreneur for 8 years earning a net total of 2 MILLION Namibian Dollars across his businesses. Hein van Vlastuin: Has been a full-stack software developer for 8 years. He currently works for Elementor.com.

05.08 Justification

We are the first platform that will offer e-learning for the renewable energy sector. We will also make all our e-learning courses free for students. The paying customer will be renewable energy companies who will use our e-learning platform for the dual purpose of posting jobs to hire people who have completed courses on our platform.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

EdX, Coursera, Udemy are our competitors. But these platforms are focused on offering too large a variety of courses. Whereas our e-learning platform will only focus on providing courses in the renewable energies sector. Our competitors all require a payment from students, our courses will be free.
