Sunny Fields is a unique sunflower oil production venture with distinct features. We plan to utilize unused rural land to overcome challenges like neglected fields due to drought and high land preparation costs. This approach optimizes land use and revitalizes agriculture in these areas. Additionally, Sunny Fields aims to promote gender equality by encouraging both men and women to participate in sunflower cultivation. We provide equal training, resources, and support to empower women and foster gender equality in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, our initiative will create numerous job opportunities in various stages of sunflower oil production. From land preparation to processing and distribution, we aim to generate employment in rural communities, reducing unemployment rates and contributing to economic growth.

Sunny Fields aims to tackle the issue of high cooking oil prices and limited local production in Namibia. Our plan involves using unused rural land for sunflower cultivation to improve food security, promote sustainable agriculture, and lessen reliance on imports. This initiative also focuses on empowering women farmers, creating job opportunities, and generating income from previously unused land. Maria Ndengu is the founder of Kautotelwa Trading, a business that specializes in making marula syrup and sweets from marula fruits. She has extensive experience in the agriculture sector and has received significant training in food processing. Maria has been instrumental in guiding me on how to plant sunflowers and maximize yields. Her expertise and connections enabled me to acquire hybrid sunflower seeds for trial cultivation. With her background and knowledge, Maria plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of Sunny Fields.
