01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Fortification premixes is the addition of essential Vitamins and minerals like Iron and Folic Acid to commonly consumed food like wheat flour and Maize during the milling process. Through our project we would like to produce and manufacture life saving premixes by cultivating and processing Red seaweed to produce the premixes that are reach in dietary fiber , Amino acids, Vitamins A, B, C , Iron and Zinc. Our target is to close the micronutrient gab in low and middle income households, especially in women of reproductive age and children by producing innovative nutritions solutions premixes.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Over 2.3 Billion people worldwide do not achieve their physical and Intellectual potential because of vitamins and mineral deficiencies. Africa is the hardest hit by Malnutrition. Most don't have access to healthy foods and every meal is meal is primarily starchy four lacking key vitamins and minerals in diet resulting in children dying from preventable sicknesses. We will solve things such as invisible Hunger which is a group of diseases caused by deficiencies of micronutrients such as iron, calcium, vitamins, iodine resulting in Anemia which causes premature births, low birth weight and other numerous health problems.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Our target objective is to achieve high levels of coverage by impacting lives and end public health problems and close the micronutrients, lipid and proteins gaps. 2. Locally produced readily available premixes at a very affordable price, this in turn reduces on the reliance on importing premixes from other countries.

1. Low and Middle income households that consume starchy foods on a daily basis especially children and reproductive women.2. Supply to small and big food producers such as Millers for the fortification of Maize.

Healthy food is balanced food where the body gets sufficient amounts of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and micronutrients, through our project we would like to provide life saving additives specifically tailored to the nutritional need of Namibians. Fortification does not require any changes eating habits, in any dietary habits, it actually doesn't even change the look or feel of the food. It is an easy and effective one and has led to excellent results in reducing micronutrients deficiencies and improve health status of the nation.

Our product will be new and innovative product on the market , there are no fortification manufacturers in Namibia and all the premixes are imported from South Africa and other countries. We will fill that gap and supply locally made product.
