Zimbabwe's agricultural sector faces significant challenges in both the ancient grains and livestock industries, hindering economic growth and food security. For ancient grains, farmers struggle to prove origin, connect with buyers, and ensure consistent quality due to a lack of standardized practices, market data, and access to financing. This results in low prices and limited market access. In the livestock sector, inconsistent rearing practices, poor record-keeping, and insufficient training lead to variable animal health, productivity, and product quality, raising disease risks. Furthermore, limited traceability and inadequate market information hinder market access and financing opportunities for livestock farmers. These challenges require innovative solutions to ensure sustainable growth and create a more equitable and profitable agricultural ecosystem in Zimbabwe.
